Dungeon Siege 2 was lamentable because it felt like an expansion pack, not a sequel. In that sense,
Broken World is like an (actual) expansion pack on top of a (fake) expansion pack. And this time out, Gas Powered Games has been able to include another huge amount of content, so it looks like this may be very close to the hack and slasher that Dungeon Siege could have been to begin with.
The game's 10-15 hours of crushing your enemies and hearing the lamenting of their monster women are filled with hundreds of new unique or set items, including a refined reagent system that is the only way to find some of the expansion's more spectacular bits. Broken World returns to many areas of DS2 after the events of that game's climax, so even though you can play Broken World without having finished DS2, now might be a good time to wrap up DS2's gameplay if you haven't.
