AGEIA Responds To ATI's Triple Play
Source: DailyTech
____________ Earlier this week at Computex, DailyTech reported that ATI officially announces its solution to physics processing. Called Triple Play, ATI's solution depends on three Radeon X1K series cards, two of which operate in CrossFire mode while a third card is configured for physics processing. The solution says ATI, uses the raw gigaflop performance of the Radeon X1K series to process physics, but users are concerned at the approach. The fact that customers are forced to buy three ATI boards ended up being questionable for many users as costs quickly escalate. |

actually you only need "two cards" one for grahics one for th PPU work and you can mix
and match. and at at $299- price point twice was expected @ $149 agieas soultion makes te LEAST siencewhen it coms to speding your $$$ Now that you get a better value from ATI & NV soultions. If only they hadn't delyied release

I'd rather buy AGIA then stuff the loudest ATI cards to use even more power!

....x1600 isn't loud
And i don't find the x1900 loud either.. (must be if you live in an apparently already hot area.? )... in either case.... current boards would be quite good already, as 2x pci-ex 16x is available.. and running a x1900xtx and a similare or other x1k card would still work wonderfully.

That's quite the approach though. I like the fact that ATI and Nvidia are being forced to direct their attentions to the Physics side of gaming. I just hope they don't muscle out the little guy..

Seems like that is what they want to do though.

The loudest thing in my system is my HDD and I already find that too loud so we really don't have teh same "acceptation" of noise. And the X1600XT is known to be REALLY too loud... Every review about it says it (cept the HIS iceQ versions or heatpipe silent versions)

It's a bad annoligy here is the correct annolighy Quote:
can do more then thier unit. Sorry.... Ex... V3 Duao wit thiert clock rates and dual gpu can barly touch a 9800 last i checked. Why? AT and NV arent the new kids on the block what they have now is the result of decades in the bussiness. Just like cyrix CPU's will never equil th power of AMD or intel CPUs . Nither will agias equil anything NV or ati can pump out. Quote:
could be the proper cooling or that its a buildt by aTI. As 3rd partys are free to use what thy please as cooling. The X1600XT I have also is near silent..... Quote:
6 months late and 2X the expected street price yea the big boys are going to rip them a new one... Quote:

i've played with 3 1900xtx's (all built by ati... the way i like it, or saphire which usually doesn't stray AT ALL from the orginal)..
I've had 2 x1600's.... a x1300 i've had my entire hands full of various ranges of ati cards... all either built by ati or saphire.. I personally find that any other maker seems to either screw around with the reference.. getting a smidge more performance but then resulting in something else happening... like noise. right now i have a machine in that a guy got a HIS x800 gto, the fan does nothing but constantly spin up and down and up again while any form of 3D is happening..... it doesn't seem to keep a steady spin speed.... why? not sure.. but i know my built by ati x800 doesn't do that.
