Kingwin Mach 1 Power Supply (600w) @ OC Cafe
Review: OC Cafe
_______________ Kingwin has always managed to release products sporting a host of practical features accented with just the right amount of panache'. Their latest being the Mach 1 power supply. Not only is the Mach 1 SLI and CrossFire ready, it also boasts modular power lines, LED lighting and a full 600 watt capacity at a street price of $100. The last being no small accomplishment for a full featured quality power supply. Today, we have an opportunity to look at the Kingwin Mach 1 power supply here at the OC Cafe'. Our thanks go out to Kingwin for sponsoring and making this review possible. |

That seems like a lot of PSU for the money.. looks really nice too.
The review though, unless I am mistaken, did not even list the rail amperage breakdown and how many 12 rails there are?! I have to go look for that after reading a review? :-/ -it should say right on the side of the thing if he just took a picture of it.. I looked 3 times... maybe I missed the info? edit--- On the manufacturers website- nothing more shown? There is a pic of the side with the label but it is too small to read.. http://www.kingwin.com/pdut_detail.a...ateID=2&ID=297 What is the deal with that? edit- edit- on NewEgg it is: $119.99 10.37 Three Day Shipping So street price isn't exactly 100 bucks.. NewEgg is usually pretty low. They have the info missing from the review. +3.3@35A --- +5V@48A --- +12V1@20A --- +12V2@20A --- -12V@0.8A --- -5@0.5A --- +5VSB@2.5A

The "undervoltage protection" seems to be rather superfluous - at the levels given, the system would already be in severe difficulty.
Depending on how genuine the implementation of "overvoltage protection" is, that may be worthwhile - and that means not dependent on the circuit that is altready malfunctioning to produce the overvoltage. The classic one in amateur radio 12V supplies is the "crowbar", a voltage triggered thyristor circuit set to short circuit the supply and blow the fuse (in the most basic setup).
