Yahoo Messenger gets plug-ins

Yahoo introduced on Monday a beta of its Yahoo Messenger with Voice chat application that includes free plug-ins designed to let people to do things like track eBay auctions, see friends’ wish lists on Amazon.com, collaborate real-time on event planning and compare calendars with contacts.
Separate versions of the Yahoo Messenger with Voice beta are being launched for nearly 20 different languages. The American English version alone will feature more than 20 plug-ins, free mini-applications that can be added to the chat program.

No it's lovely software, I use it exclusively as my main chat now. The photosharing and filesharing is much better than AIM, no worrying about firewalls and the UI is better. Just be careful installing it or you'll get yahoo toolbar and friends.

I just wish it had tabbed messaging.

its okay but never liked it to much going on tbh and on old versions is saw 50mb of ram usage for it so i guess that aspect has improved andrew?
edit: 50mb of ram compaired to 15mb or so for msn messenger which as many features too

This beta is taking 50mb of ram, I can't comment on 7.5 until I get into work tomorrow. I don't really notice it because I have a gig. Soon MSN and yahoo will be linked, that will be exciting.

msn8 isnt a beta now more as of today

, indeed it will be good when they are linked how ever its ment to be minimal in 1st phase ie. only able to send msgs and nothing more which sucks

Yeah but it still means that over 75% of instant message users worldwide will be linked together. Anything that gets people to stop using third-party clients or antiquated AIM is going to unlock a whole new level of instant messaging. It will become more than just sending text.

The new whiteboard is a little unpolished in yahoo messenger beta but much better than the old imvironment one; now it's a plugin.
