On Tape: Rep Won't Let Customer Quit AOL

Source: NBC10
__________
An incredible video from CNBC shows an AOL customer trying to cancel his account, but a phone rep won't let him do it. What customer Vincent Ferrari got when he tried to cancel his account was a lot of frustration.

It took him 15 minutes waiting on the phone just to reach a real, live person.

And, what happened next was recorded by Ferrari on audio and lasted about four minutes:

Sounds like it was the guys last day or he just did not care and wanted to raise as much hell as he could lol. But I do hate it when it's hard to cancel stuff over the phone...

AOL is getting alot of heat because of this recording, which they deserve!

Hear the entire conversation here: http://media.putfile.com/AOL-Cancellation

The supporter was "fired", but sadly he was proberly worth alot of money for AOL.

Heh, I see AOL still has people like that working for them. When I got my first computer, I tried the AOL free trial service. A couple weeks later, I called to have it canceled, and the guy tried to keep me on it, offering more free time to try it out. Frustrated, I eventually accepted, then called back to get a different guy, who, after telling him that I didn't care about all the free trial time I had and to just cancel it, finally did so. That was back in 2002. I'm thinking they realize their sevice is crap and their browser is massive bloatware and thus would do anything to keep customers with them.

No AOL agresively talks you into a free mounth of service vs canceling!
you can sign up online, THEY MAKE YOU CALL THEM TO CANCEL
There is useally a long wait to try to cancel.

They used t have a cancel system keyword "cancel" and you need only
click cancel my service and confirm. When you disconnected you service
was canceled.

But they stopped doing that, becouse its not profitable to have your cutmoer cancel.
They also contenu to bill you months after you cancel in many cases!!!

Sounds as fun as trying to cancel an account with Bell Expresscrap!
Love companies who do this.
I never could cancel my account, but i live in a duplex with my parents being upstairs, they took it over.

AOL is probably as bad as a virus at messing up your computer.

actully it can be just as bad especaillty with the frequent update it not uncommon to
see 15 like 100 vrsion of AOL pn one machine! Becouse verything you update it
doesn't upgrade over it a "fresh install". I've had many cases when AOL was the
problem with the customers computer!!!!!
