Brazil to use Japanese techonology for digital TV

BRASILIA, Brazil (Reuters) - Brazil said on Thurdsay it will use Japanese technology as the basis for its digital television standard, lining up billions of dollars in potential revenue for Japan's electronics manufacturers.

Brazil's government chose Japan's ISDB standard over rival U.S. and European technologies, ending more than a decade of public debate. It said the system was more stable, offered more service to customers and could be modernized and adapted more easily. Brazil's media also favoured the Japanese standard.
