A self-proclaimed "geek'' with seven computers at home, San Jose resident John Shifflett says shopping online is boring.

While waiting for his wife to appear from a Macy's dressing room at Valley Fair, Shifflett explained that he likes to touch items and buy immediately.

"She gets her clothes and I get a fashion show,'' Shifflett said, glancing with a smile at a brown tank top his wife modeled.

Even in the land of the tech-savvy, it's hard to resist the lure of the mall.
