It seems ages ago that Apple first introduced a snazzy digital-music player with an innovative click-wheel and counterpart online music store. A few generations of the device later, the company added video and left many wondering what might be next.

Well, according to news spreading around the blogosphere today, the next big thing will be an iPod that talks. The discussion was sparked by an analysis of a patent application filed by Apple for an upcoming generation of the iPod.

I can see it now.. two people talking to each other through their iPods

Even if it just says the name of the artist and song, it won't pronounce it correctly.. and a lot of people have their filenames all messed up and all anyway

It could be turned into a GPS device. That would be really nice and a good step for all in one travel enjoyment.

A talking ipod could end up very ugly. Especially if it sounded like Stephen Hawking.

I dont know what kind of stereotype cartoon of him you've heard, but his voice output sounds very much like a normal american now.
