Checkers isn't what it used to be. No, with Ultimate Board Game Collection, you take away the boards and the easy-to-swallow pieces of your youth and replace them with a virtual board, virtual pieces, and what amounts to virtual fun.

Sure, with 20 different games to choose from, you have a good variety, including Chess, Parcheesi, Dominos and Snakes and Ladders. There's even Naval Battle, which, let's face it, is really just Battleship under a different name. Each game is easy to play and simple, and offers just enough amusement to kill a half hour by yourself or with friends. Unfortunately, only some of the games give you different playing options and environments. But that's not incredibly important, because at $14.99, Ultimate Board Game Collection is just an hour's diversion from these lazy summer days.
