SAN FRANCISCO, July 14 (Reuters) - Quarterly reports from Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. next week aren't expected to be pretty, and Wall Street will be looking for signs that the No. 1 processor maker has hit bottom and whether its better-performing chief rival has peaked.

Once relegated to following in Intel's footsteps, AMD has emerged as nimble competitor in recent quarters, but the technology heavyweight is fighting back by trimming its workforce, slashing prices, and launching new chips.
