Netflix outlook disappoints investors

Online DVD rental company Netflix on Monday reported a sharp rise in quarterly earnings, but disappointed investors by warning that earnings for the rest of the year would be lower than expected, driving its shares down 20 percent.

Net earnings for the second quarter were $16.8 million, or 24 cents per share, compared with $5.7 million, or 9 cents per share, in the second-quarter of 2005.

Revenue rose 46 percent to $239.4 million.
