LONG BEACH - A giant web may soon be dangling over the entire city.

According to a proposal under consideration at City Hall, residents may soon gain access to the Internet from anywhere in the city of Long Beach within the next year.

The city is considering proposals from five companies to build a "Citywide Wireless Fidelity Network," said Curtis Tani, Long Beach's director of technical services.
