Working Together: Can Co-op Gaming Succeed?

Source: GameDaily
_________
Gaming always seems to go better with a friend. There's nothing wrong with being a one-man army blowing away countless forces, but having a buddy come along changes things. Your back is clearly covered, although arguments of who gets what weapon come into play. However, the reward of completing your tasks is that much sweeter, as you realize that teamwork helps save the day. This is the basis of co-op gaming, and the face of it is changing as we know it.

Co-op gaming started in the early 80's. A game that comes to mind is Circus Atari for the Atari 2600. The game can be played solo, but more fun comes from playing it with a friend. Players rely on each other to move a seesaw back and forth across the screen, keeping two players in play as they launch each other in the air, popping balloons. If you miss, you're given a heavy reminder of your failure, as you (or your friend) come crashing down to the ground, your head flattened as a result.

Good article, but actually quite dead wrong. I honestly don't believe coop gaming will last very long. I love it but games just don't have it as an option anymore. Only deathmatch, team deathmatch, ctf, something old with a new name and games played in turns. Why developer are not using it? It's easy implement and makes lots of fans. Argh.

I just woke up after couple hours of sleep. Woke up because of a one small house fly being pain in the ass, again. So pardon my short nerves on coop-thing.

Co-op is what makes online games fun when u don't compete.

There really needs to be more people who play it though
