Ten years ago the 3.5" floppy disk was 'the' medium to transport files on and for the most part it was all the average person needed. Sure, CD/RW drives were out there but they were cost prohibitive for normal everyday use. Today, I can't imagine living without a thumb drive and most companies have switched over to providing thumb drives with new computer installs instead of a floppy drive. I use a thumb drive practically everyday at work and the convenience of it allows me to do more in less time. Can you imagine trying to transfer a 50MB file or program using floppy disks today?
