Source: Tweaktown
_______ ATI released the latest set of Catalyst drivers for Radeon cards quickly this month. We examine performance, as usual. |

![]() ![]() Nice one, Tweaktown. An "ATI Catalyst 6.8 Performance Analysis" with one glitch: not one 6.8 score ANYWHERE in the article. Only 6.6 and 6.7. Ooops.

![]() there was wrong pic in the article, i guess. i Think the right pics files that they are supposed to be used on the article pages would be something likes "cat68g_04g.gif", "cat68g_05g.gif"... ( not cat67g_04g.gif, cat67g_05g.gif...) http://images.tweaktown.com/imagebank/cat68g_04g.gif http://images.tweaktown.com/imagebank/cat68g_05g.gif Last edited by PangingJr; Aug 21, 2006 at 10:38 AM. |

Tweaktown's graphs make me wonder if I'm going colorblind or if the color on my LCD is just plain bad. Either way, it would be nice if they'd use highly contrasting colors instead of these sameish creamy shades. The problem isn't telling the bars apart, its divining which is which with those little squares on the bottom.

Looking at the correct graphics, these drivers seem to be "performance positive", even for the X800 (prompts me to try them on my X700).

According to ATI they made changes to the memory manager to increase memory performance on 256mb cards (and above, I'd assume). That got me to thinking: is this the same memory optimizations that NGOHQ has been making to their optimized drivers for quite awhile now? I've always been a firm believer of giving credit where credit is due, and if this is the case then it would be nice if ATI at least gave NGOHQ (in particular, Regeneration) credit for the optimization they are now incorporating into their drivers.
