Hewlett-Packard plans to expand its work force in San Jose. But it's not talking about the capital of Silicon Valley.

San Jose, Costa Rica, where HP already employs 3,300 call center workers, will eventually host nearly twice that many workers with the opening of a new building, HP announced Friday. The building adds onto the existing call center in San Jose, which currently handles 70,000 support calls a day for English-, French- and Spanish-speaking customers of HP.
