Acer has finalized notebook contract orders with its suppliers for 2007, with Compal Electronics grabbing the largest proportion of the orders, according to sources. Compal will fulfill 30-35% of Acer's full-year notebook shipments in 2007, followed by Quanta and Wistron, each fulfilling 25-30%, indicated the sources. Inventec, which began participating in Acer's notebook supplier list in 2006, will be responsible for the remaining 10-15%, the sources added.
Acer estimates internally that the company will ship 13-14 million notebooks worldwide in 2007, representing a 30% increase over 2006, the sources noted. Accordingly, Compal may ship 3.9-4.9 million notebooks to the vendor next year, whereas Inventec's shipments to Acer will amount to 1.3-2 million units, the sources estimate. Meanwhile, Quanta and Wistron will each ship 3.2-4.2 million notebooks to Acer in 2007, the sources said.
