Resistance PS3 Game Uses 22 Gigabytes of Blu-ray Disc
Source: neowin.net
_________ According to Ryan Schneider, spokesman for Insomniac Games, "Resistance: Fall of Man" Blu-ray PS3 game is making good use of the new format, using up a massive 22 gigabytes for music, level data, textures and code. These discs can only hold 25 gigabytes in total per layer. Pointing to the fact that HD-DVD cannot store this much information on a single layer disc, he kind of threw some sand in Microsoft and Toshiba's eyes. He said for this reason of extra storage capacity, this game will be PS3/Blu-ray only. |

sounds like it'll have loads of textures with no compression, which is pointless in anything other then high def...and it also sounds liek the game will be full of uncompressed raw bitmaps of the concept art and staff bios
![]() Cuz ther'es no way the game is 22 GBs of good stuff unless it's like, final fantasy type long |

gotta love the blu-ray bs propaganda. The hd-dvd format can hold up to 30GB of data unlike BD at current can only hold 25gb since bd50 has been vaporware. Not that it matters sicne MS has stated no hd-dvd games.
Also its no big loss being a ps3 exclusive since anyone who has seen screens of this game can attest its just another shooter. Easily below the par of gears of war or even GRAW. |

Yep, everything must be uncompressed, probably to prevent people from trying to pirate the game. Who would want to download 22GB off the internet? I would do the same if I were developing a game.

22 gigabytes of nothing. I saw a gameplay video of that game. Didn't impress me in any ways. Just another Quake only on console.

Zomg our game uses so much space!!! It couldn't possibly run on 360 lolz!
Pathetic. Maybe if they bother to actually optimize the game it won't take up so much space. On a different note, it'd be funny if their sales for the game are poor due to limiting themselves to PS3 only. I know I personally won't be paying £429 or whatever it is for a console. |
