Zalman ZM-STG1 Super Thermal Grease Review @ Tweaknews.net

Source: Tweaknews.net
________
If you spend much time in online computer forums, I'm sure you've read it many, many times. “Which thermal paste is best?” For the last several years a couple of products by a single supplier seem to always top the list. Zalman has a new product out that they claim yields better thermal performance than the competition as well as being easier to apply. They've sent us a bottle of their ZM-STG1 (AKA Super Thermal Grease) to try out. Let's see how it stands up to one of its rivals.

Cant beat liquid silver

And using a brush is without doubt the best way to apply thermal grease, funny it took them so long to deliever a brush with a thermal grease product.

Brush is a good idea, but Arctic Silver 5 is not liquid enough to be applied with it. I still use my finger wrapped in some PVC to apply the thermal grease.

i found that applying a thin layer accross the whole cpu yields higher temps than applying per articsilver's site.i believe it has to do with the long burn-in of as5 and if you apply to much it just never burns in all the way like it should.the only time i apply evenly is on a gpu because it has no heat spreader.the way i understand this zalman product is it has a seven day burn-in and after it burns in it is supposed to have way better temps than when first applied so it could end up being better than as5.im going to try it as soon as i can.
