DH Review: Palit 7900GT Sonic 512MB

A long time ago someone came up with the phrase “Never judge a book by its cover” and that has gone on to become a well used and understood part of the English language. We all know the meaning behind the phrase and obviously that it doesn't just apply to books.

Today’s review product is Palit's 7900GT however as is obvious from the first few lines of this introduction there is a lot more going on with this card than the model name suggests. Let’s take a look at what Palit have done to make their card stand out from the crowd.

Do you mean if the card breaks or are you thinking about some other form of support? RMA's are handled by the shop you purchase the card from if thats what you are asking.

Did Gainward have a good rep? I mean the card delivers performance, and if you mess with I know the warranty is voided. But an enthusiast card means that i should deliver even more performance if pushed...say a little more?

BTW - excellent review.

Well Stuart I usually buy vid cards online from places like Newegg, ZZF and they usually handle rma claims for up to 30 dys of purchase. After that, all claims are handled by the respective manufacturer.

I think its pretty hard to tell until you are put in the situation yourself. also would be hard for a reviewer to say if RMA is good or not as they would be getting preferential treatment.

However on their main site it says ..... http://www.palit.com.tw/en/support/rma.htm

"
FOR END-USERS
If you did not purchase Palit's products directly from us, please contact with your direct vendor for RMA service."

They do however deal directly with end customers who purchase from them, I think.....

Wonder if we emailed them would they give information on warranties, their site is pretty poorly laid out http://www.palit.com.tw/en/contact/contact.html

Uh huh. And what happens when your vendor no longer offers RMA service? Basically, you're screwed?

Good review.

A nvidia card disguised as an ATI card that'll put the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons. Must admit ive never came across this brand but based on the review they could be one to watch. I like my reviews to start with a little company history but im guessing this ommision is because the company is new?

I'm seeing somewhere around the $500us mark for price with a quick bit of froogling

Great review Stu , and an impressive performance from that card.
I have heard mention of the company before in a kinda 'one to watch' way just recently, seems justified by this evidence

500$ o_O well if thats true, then it's a bad buy imo, you are better of with a x1950.
