Default Post TheNerds.Net Hacked by Zilterio

http://msnbc.com/news/759029.asp?0dm=C14LT

Magn0lia writes "Early Wednesday morning, customers of TheNerds.net recently recieved emails from Zilterio@yahoo.com, claiming in part:
“I HATE TO INFORM YOU that your account has been hacked on THENERDS.NET. This site has a very weak security protection system and the database with credit cards and other personal information is not protected at all.”
Then Zilterio went on to paste into each email each recipient's personal information, including credit card number.

Zilterio is infamous for post-crack extortion attempts; if the past eight months, he has allegedly hacked four sites. He usually then demands around $50,000 USD to maintain the silence concerning that company's vulnerability. No extortion demands have yet been made to TheNerds.net, who are working with the FBI and the Secret Service.

Here's an interesting post-mortem revealing the steps taken to crisis-manage a Zilterio extortion attempt on linkLINE. For the interested, here's an archive of a Zilterio email that was forwarded to Bugtraq.

Well... now you know why i don't use credit cards jk

On the one hand we have a bad security system.
On the other hand we have a malitious hacker.
On yet another hand we have a revolutionary and obviously skilled individual.

What do they all have in common? : room for improvement.
