Foxconn Precision Components is competing for orders of magnesium-alloy cases for use in Dell's entry-level business-use notebooks, as the notebooks may adopt magnesium-alloy cases in large volumes, according to the Chinese-language Apple Daily.
Strong orders for magnesium-alloy cases and game console modules drove Foxconn Precision Components' consolidated sales to NT$6.39 billion (US$195 million) in July, up 11.8% sequentially from June, setting a record so far this year, the paper said. The company will see rising sales in the third quarter, boosted by shipments of magnesium-alloy cases for Motorola's new handsets and for new clients' notebooks, the paper added.
