NVIDIA Loses MSI To ATi !

MSI to manufacturer cards for ATi Technologies!

Posted by Steve 8:56 AM (CST)

Keith Cyr points out that there is big news for ATi, bad news for NVIDIA according to this Yahoo Finance report. The report is saying that NVIDIA lost one of their biggest card making partners, MSI, to rival ATi. Here is the clip.

8:34AM NVIDIA estimates trimmed at FBR on large design loss; target $11 (NVDA) 12.57: Friedman, Billings, Ramsey has learned that NVDA has lost a large design win at Micro-Star (one of its largest customers) to ATYT; firm now believes that other designs at Micro-Star are at risk, given that they had been an NVDA-exclusive customer; additionally, firm believes NVDA's new GeForce FX line will ramp more slowly than expected due to low yields on both discrete and board-level products; trims FY04 rev/EPS ests to $1.80 bln/$0.61 from $1.83 bln/$0.63 (consensus $1.82 bln/$0.59). Price target is $11.

Wink I saw that too.

I do believe I posted a thread on this here already....

There's an excellent thread at nVnews about this too and some of the ramifications on the stock market from it.

This is BIG bad news for nVidia, Wall Street just found out how badly the FX is sucking and I have a bad feeling that MSI is just the first company in a long list of companies that are gonna be making the switch.

Which card would you rather be making and selling, making and selling for the next year!

Wake up nVidia, smell the coffee QUICK!

EDITED BITS: Oh, almost forgot. [h]=forum nazi mods, I don't go there.

Wow

MSI was like nVidia's biggest partner too.

Sad That really is bad news for Nvidia..

And it certainly will not go over very well with their shareholders. I could be wrong, but I think those expected losses in income are rather "best case" estimates. I can't believe how quickly things have turned very sour for them in the high end Video Card arena and its really kind of sad. I sure hope they don't go the way of the company they bought. That would be a real shame. I "HAD" been a loyal Nvidia user for almost 3 years, but after witnessing delay after delay on the FX and then hearing one and seeing the numbers I was really disappointed. After visiting a friend and seeing a 9700 Pro in action on his computer, I was thoroughly impressed and had to have one. I wonder how many other people will travel down the same road I did, or went before me? I wish them well, but I think I can honestly say I am a satisfied ATI customer now and it would take alot for Nvidia to earn my trust again.

I saw it on overclockersforum.com earily today. But yes. nVidia gains 3dfx, hits a bump in the road. What does this make you think of?
