Prosecutor relents on MySpace postings

An Alameda County prosecutor said he will not ask a judge to force the mother of a murder suspect to remove trial-related postings she made on a MySpace.com page set up for her daughter.

Deputy district attorney Amilcar Ford said when Laura Rangel of Oakland testifies during her daughter's trial -- scheduled to start Oct. 30 -- he will ask about the postings. They include police reports, preliminary hearing transcripts, photos of one victim of the June 2004 fatal car wreck and an image of Ford with his grandmother. But Ford will not try to have them forcefully removed.
