Attributed to the success of the Intel Pentium M, the number of computer enthusiasts seeking to use mobile processors in the desktop environment has been increasing as of late. These mobile processors are relatively low cost but more importantly when combined with desktop cooling, these CPUs can often reach very high clock speeds. ASUS had even developed a Pentium M to Pentium 4 adapter, and there have been manufacturers to develop micro ATX motherboards that rely on these mobile processors. Outside of the overclocking incentive, mobile processors have caught momentum in the desktop field due to the low heat output and power consumption of these components, which is ideal for making a silent PC.
