Killer NIC--The Gaming Network Accelerator Card @ ExtremeTech
Review: ExtremeTech
_______________ Last year, ET analyst Loyd Case wrote an editorial on gouging gamers about the high price premium gamers are asked to pay for "gaming" gear. High performance gaming PCs can be exorbitantly expensive, which don't always deliver an experience all that much better than something a little more down to earth. Not to mention, all the other gaming "stuff" is more expensive, too: Gaming mice usually cost more than standard office mice, gaming headphones and speakers cost more than generic counterparts, and so on. Of course, you usually get something for this price premium—the "gaming" gear typically performs better, has better ergonomics, whatever. |

Their testing methods are totally useless really, they admit it themselves.
Yeah it's way too expensive, bla bla bla.. but the tests that were performed are completely unscientific and mean absolutely nothing. It isn't the testers fault, just the way it is. It's hard to base any decision on those results, but it would be an interesting product for 50 or so bucks. |
