Athlon 64 FX prices jump as AMD readies 4x4 CPUs

Chicago (IL) - As AMD and consumers get ready for the release of the FX-70, FX-72, and FX-74 processors, prices for the existing FX-62 and FX-60 products rose in absolute dollar values more than any other processors that we looked at for this week's processor performance charts. At this time, it makes a lot of sense to hold off on buying an FX processor until the release of the new models later this month.

That's stupid. I hate AMD and the way they control their high end cpu prices. The FX 60,62 and X2 4800 should be decreasing in price more than any other processor but they are still way too overpriced.

well, for them its not.

Think about it. Anyone smart enough who is looking at high end CPU's will wait till the quad cores come out. Anyone dumb enough to buy an FX60 now will not mind buying it for 100$ more. As soon as the quad cores are released, however, the price will decrease on the CPU's before it.
