Why the Zune will help kill DRM

Microsoft unveiled the Zune this week, as I'm sure most of you now know. The player's release could be described only as disappointing--sales were reportedly almost nonexistent, and a bevy of technology writers had come forward even before the Zune hit shelves to tear it to pieces. Now, some of the criticism is undeserved. The Zune is, in fact, a fairly decent piece of hardware.

My 2 cents...

Its fairly decent...its no Ipod but its not a competitor by ANY means.
I like the bigger, more widescreen able, screen, but at what battery cost?
I don't care for how thick it is, but if I could 'hack' it, and do something more productive than what it can currently do, I could easily be persuaded to overlook that fact.

Its also First-Generation...were they expecting record sales for a product that already exists? (that being the ipod)

Lovely set of ads they have of that page - looks like a whole host of "pay for P2P" sites, most likely all aliases of the same bunch of sharks

I hate microsoft hardware of any kind, So ill never own one.

actually it looks like an icnredibly well thought out device.

it IS a tad big, and it's also revision 1 software...I say give it til revision 2, and maybe until a "Zune Nano" and you'll see a whole different set of headlines
