Dell fires in Texas, hires in Taiwan

According to a story from Dow Jones Newswires on The Wall Street Journal website, Dell Computer has laid off 140 employees from its product development group in Texas. Although the move was described as “part of the routine ebb-and-flow of employment at a major corporation,” it comes at a time when Dell is aggressively hiring for its new design center in Taiwan.

Dell Taiwan was unavailable to comment on any potential relationship between the loss of jobs in Texas and the new opportunities in Taiwan.
