It has been a little over five years since Microsoft’s Windows XP operating system was first introduced to the public. Windows XP brought with it a plethora of new features, but for most people, Windows XP’s most welcome feature was its enhanced stability over Windows 98. In a nutshell, Windows XP successfully merged the compatibility found in Windows 98 with the stability found in Windows NT/2000, thanks to its usage of the NT codebase, and of course it sported a brand new user interface with a new start menu and security enhancements.

Now Microsoft’s set to introduce Windows Vista, their first 3D operating system. The new OS boasts several additional new features and enhancements, and in this article we’ll discuss some of these in more detail.
