M-Audio Revolution 7.1

The guy's @ Geek Extreme have posted their look @ M-Audio Revolution 7.1 Sound card! Here's a snip.

Will this card signal an end to Creative's dominance? No, not likely. Ask Nvidia; you don't put out a superior product and immediately win market supremacy. It took a few years for them to take over 3dfx's position as number one. This should put up some red flags though back at Creative Labs HQ though. Their software has consistently been bad, even worse than ATi's drivers a year or two ago. Their customer support is pitiful at best and charging people for a full driver is just stupid. Their hardware hasn't been fantastic either with rumors stating that the Live! wasn't even truly PCI 2.1 spec.

M-Audio has put together a quality card here. It has very low CPU utilization (sorry, no pretty graphs as my Audigy has since been given away), excellent sound quality and true 24/192 recording. The one time I called with an engineered problem, it was promptly and politely handled. Their drivers are freely downloadable and are smaller than Creative's update patch for the Audigy.
