Apple’s “Leopard” has Glass UI
Source: MSTechToday
___________ Think Secret today published some new screenshots (a report) of Apple's latest "Leopard" Build - Build 9A321. These screenshots are just a small preview of what Apple has up its sleeve for OS X 10.5. However, I couldn't help but notice that Apple is choosing to adopt a very similar "Aero-like" Glass effect with one of their application windows in Leopard. |

So it's transparent, transparency has been around in OS's for years, just because MS now call it Aero doesn't change anything. Vista looks tacky anyway, it's fine for joe bloggs but as a designer I hate it... MS have never been good at the visual side of things.

It also happens to be my job. By many designers opinion MS have always been far behind apple when it comes to classy well formed visual design (at least since Jobs came on board), the glass effect looks ok for now but that's because it's a current trend (see Web2.0 etc). But as I mentioned I doubt joe blogs will care about that. I do like the blurring effect though, and I have to admit it's light years ahead of XP...but that's to be expected.
Thankfully vista isn't hard to skin so I'm sure we'll see some fantastic themes available in the year to come. Last edited by Witchhunter; Dec 22, 2006 at 10:16 AM. |
