Cisco Systems says it will sue Apple over iPhone

SAN FRANCISCO - Cisco Systems Inc. said Wednesday it is suing Apple Inc. in federal court over Apple’s use of Cisco’s registered iPhone trademark for its new handheld device.

Cisco has owned the trademark on the name “iPhone” since 2000, when it acquired InfoGear Technology Corp., which originally registered the name.

Apple probably owns a few million dollars in cisco equipment compaired to cisco not owning but one lone solitary test bed of apple equipment

but that usualy tens do be the problem in big disputes like this haha..
apple thought they could pull it not caring bout all the legal crap.. i mean they are apple....

Reports are that they HAVE been negotiating. My guess is this is just a kick in the pants to get Apple to sign. If they really want the name iPhone I hope Cisco makes 'em pay for it. They have no obligation to give up that name.

That's true.. Apple just stole it. They obviously saw tis coming. Maybe they thought the extra publicity would help them launch their product.
