Defense workers warned about Canadian spy coins
Source: Yahoo! News
_________ WASHINGTON - Can the coins jingling in your pocket trace your movements? The Defense Department is warning its American contractor employees about a new espionage threat seemingly straight from Hollywood: It discovered Canadian coins with tiny radio frequency transmitters hidden inside. In a U.S. government report, it said the mysterious coins were found planted on U.S. contractors with classified security clearances on at least three separate occasions between October 2005 and January 2006 as the contractors traveled through Canada. [Mod's note: A little outside our normal range, but still tech and very interesting!] |

well, who knew they'd catch on....
it's been YEARS since we first introduced those suckers though.... after the first few years, you'd figured they'd either figure it out, OR never figure it out long as they don't start poking and prodding the bills.

I have serious problem imagining modern Canada spying on USA.

Because if the USA really wanted to invade Canada, no amount of spying by Canada would be enough to stop them. Canada is not trying to race ahead of the USA in defence tech, nor an arms race in general. The two countries are not hostile to each other, and neither of them has anything to win with worse relations between them. The whole thing is absurd. It is like Luxemburg spying on France.
