No cellphone? No BlackBerry? No e-mail? No way? (It's true.)
Source: Yahoo! News
_________ SAN FRANCISCO - Joan Brady can't even count the number of computers that friends have foisted upon her over the years. Laptops. Desktops. Monitors. It's as if they can't help themselves, as if they just can't accept her for who she is: a woman who dares to live without a PC in the heart of Techtropolis. "I just don't need it," says Brady, 52, a personal chef and party clown. No, she doesn't e-mail. And, really, she does not need you to call her and read the latest e-mail joke to her. She knows what she's missing, and she's grateful for it every day. |

"I just don't need it," says Brady, 52, a........boring stuff &....... party clown . Um..... a clown? I think that is more interesting than the fact she's afraid of computers.

At 52, I'm not surprised she see no need for a PC. Some people prefer simpler lives.
I, for one, have never owned a mobile phone. Now if you could show me a teenager in an urban environment with none of those things, THEN I'd be surprised.

I've never owned a cell phone either.. they suck. I can see the need for them for business and whatnot, but thankfully I have not needed one yet.

as for living without them...I think life would be much less stressful, but we just sort of accept having one as a necessity now a days |

I love having a cell phone. It doesn't really complicate my life nearly as much as it simplifies it. Of course I don't go in for all the fancy stuff on cells now - no smart phone/pda thing. I use it for a phone & and "little black book" so I can keep everyone's tele # handy. Outside of that I agree with the woman. Now as far as having internet access - that's a whole nuther story. It's soooo useful to find out any & everything. I don't see why anyone woud willing go without it.

My friend's gf's cell phone broke and she never replaced it. She likes how people can't contact her wherever she is, especially her mom.

I'm with PJ I'm afraid. I get a new phone twice a year, was the first person I knew to have a colour screen (and a flashy tft at that).
I hear people moaning about the fact that mobile phones are annoying because it means people can reach them 'anytime, anywhere'. my answer is always the same; just turn the fecking thing off dumbass.

people don't seem to get that just because you have a cellphone doesn't necessarily mean you have to carry it everywhere, have it turned on 24/7 or answer it everytime it rings

I don't have a cell phone. I can find better stuff to spend my money on, and if I'm ever in a situation where I need one, people I'm with will probably have one. I've even found strangers quite receptive to letting you use their cell phones if you come up with a good reason.

Oh my dear lord you blasphemers. Just wait you'll learn
![]() Some ass-bandit gave me my second ever bad rep on the i-phone discussion because I dared mention I don't have a mobile/cell phone. Apparently these days it more acceptable to bum-rape goats than not own a phone. Oh and to this person: Jan 10, 2007 02:11 AM mobile is useful, stop bragging about being stubborn I hope your next shit's a porcupine and it crawls back up your arse backwards. ....... ....... . I don't own a mobile because I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices and also on a Island thats about 600 miles top to bottom im unlikely to be missing for to long. Besides 99% of users own a mobile so they can ring their partners to say honey im just pulling into the driveway now, love you Mwah.

I hate cell phones and I am no technophobe. I have 5 computers, 5 email accounts, a PDA, broadband internet, cable TV, and VOIP. I bank online, use Ebay and Paypal. But no cell phone. Never did and don't see a reason for it now. From what I see they turn you into a jerk. I have seen two people in a car, both on cell phones talking to two different people and ignoring each other... and driving with a cell phone in your hand is illegal in my state. I have seen people who have gone out to get a movie at a DVD rental store and once they get there call someone to help them select a movie. People actually shop at the grocery store with essentially an open mic to whomever is on the other end and instead of a list, they have the person call out items they need. I have been standing in front of someone when they said Hello in a loud voice. I turn and start to respond but they are on a cell phone. No thanks to spending $50 a month or more for something that is annoying to me and to all those around me. I use the phone in my home and it's enough.

The older generation don't email, the middle generation email but don't IM and the youngest generation don't do handwriting.Maybe the next generation will have wireless thought transfer using implanted cyberchips?

imo, highly populated areas REALLY don't need a bloody cell phone, most people DON'T NEED a cell phone (mobile phone, what ever you call it).
Our in the rural areas, it's a seriously large amount of help, but still not a absalute must. My mobile phone is used specifically for emergencies or nessary calls. I wouldn't have one if i were in the city.
