New details emerge about Windows Home Server

Source: Ars Technica
___________
In the old days, choosing a version of Windows was easy. You had XP Home for the home, XP Pro for work, and Server 2003 for the server. With the release of Vista, Microsoft has opted to muddy the waters somewhat by offering numerous different product SKUs for every conceivable market segment, including a new version called Windows Home Server. Now, Microsoft has revealed some new details about this product, scheduled for introduction some time later this year.

Windows Home Server will initially be available only through select OEM models, such as HP's MediaSmart Server, scheduled for release later this year. According to Microsoft, the reason for Home Server's existence is to "empower consumers with the ability to connect home PCs, digital devices and printers in the home." The idea is to help households with more than one computer keep track of, and provide protection for, shared data such as digital photos and movies.
