Motorola to Cut 3,500 Jobs

CHICAGO — Motorola Inc. said Friday it is cutting 3,500 jobs and taking other steps to reduce costs after misjudgments on pricing and sales forecasts for its high-end phones contributed to its least profitable quarter since 2004.

well if motorola could manage to get out a 10-4 mobile phone, i think they'd have a fair bit interest in several locations.

I prefer motorola, but if i can't get a pretty demanding and required feature such as 10-4, why bother?

Kinda sad that sanyo is the only phone i could get 10-4 with at the time. It's been around for nearly 2 years. (if not more)

Nokia gave Motorola some hard times last year. Nokia already had cut it's people here in Finland and opened new plants in China and India where it is cheaper to make phones!!

Unfortunately many companies are doing the same thing as the labour cost in China and India is a lot cheaper than anywhere in the world

Now days Nokia makes only the N and E-series phones in their factory in Salo. They are the only phones that are profitable to build here.
