Transmeta Corp. (Nasdaq:TMTA) and Time Computers recently announced that Transmeta's energy efficient Crusoe TM5800 processor is incorporated in the Time Tablet PC targeting the education, corporate and consumer markets in the United Kingdom.

Time Education, a TIME Group Ltd company, is displaying the Time Tablet PC at the Education Show in Birmingham, England starting today. The Time Tablet PC weighs just three pounds and offers a unique alternative to the standard notebook computer. It implements state-of-the-art inking technology and recognizes a built-in library of hand movements, allowing users to write or sketch as they would using a pen and paper. By implementing an energy efficient Crusoe processor, the device features cool operating temperatures and is highly versatile, making it particularly well suited for the education market, in addition to corporate and consumer use.

"We are impressed with the benefits of Transmeta's efficient processor technology," said Martin Allington, general manager of Time Education. "The Time Tablet PC is a tremendous tool for educators and students and represents a leap forward in mobile computing."

"Our initial expectations for the adoption of Tablet PCs in Europe were moderate, which is common for most new computing platforms," said Jeremy Davies, senior analyst at Context of London, which has tracked the European IT industry since 1983. "However, our initial survey findings show a positive trend for Tablet PCs to become mainstream earlier than expected."
