AMD makes bold quad-core claims

After years of being outplayed by AMD, Intel beat its rival to the punch by releasing its quad-core Xeon 5300 "Clovertown" processor for servers in November. But AMD's "Barcelona" quad-core chip, due to arrive midway through 2007, will be a significant notch faster than the Clovertown chips expected to be on the market at that time, said Randy Allen, AMD's corporate vice president for server and workstation products.

Considering how '........' thier current quadcore is... claiming its an improvement doesn't say much.

I'd prefer to handle it myself, but i wouldn't disreguard it. I wouldn't be serprised to see a quad core intel cpu get blown away from a natively quad core amd cpu.

by the time AMD gets one to market (or even to test) Intel will likely already be there.

as soon as amd bring out their quad 65nm cpu.. intel will most likley have their 45nm quad or even octo cpu already in test or on the market
