Apple, Beatles settle trademark suit

Source: Yahoo! News
_______
CUPERTINO, Calif. - IPod maker Apple said Monday it settled long-simmering trademark issues with The Beatles' Apple Corps Ltd. company about the use of the name "Apple" and apple logos.

The new settlement replaces the companies' 1991 agreement, and gives Apple Inc. ownership of all the trademarks related to "Apple." In addition, Apple Inc. will license certain of those trademarks back to Apple Corps for their continued use.

Another tech product the Beatles are associated with is the CT scanner. EMI produced the first medical CT scanner.

In 1958 the EMIDEC 1100, Britains first transistor-computer was developed there under the lead of Godfrey Hounsfield. Afterwards, from 1961 till 1976 he built the first computer tomograph there. This costly developement was largely financed by the profits from the successful sells of records by the Beatles.
