Exclusive screenshot: GLEXCESS 2

My good friend Bustard has sent me an exclusive picture of his forthcoming benchmark GLEXCESS2. He wants me to make sure everyone knows this is an early screenie and for those interested its running on a 4600.

For those of you unaware of what im talking about (well there might be a few), GLEXCESS 2 is the follow up to the massively popular Glexcess opengl benchmark, which had some pretty nice visuals and will probably transport alot of our board members back to the 8500 days when test 6 was used to see ATIs driver progress regarding the HPB problem, which was finally solved with 6143 ! (you know you are getting old when you remember all this!).

GLExcess 2.0 is currently under development. As usual, it will run a number of tests to determine system performance in the following areas: CPU speed, fill rate, polygon count, VRAM amount, extensions support.

From a technical point of view, here is a short brief of some of the features you will find in GLExcess 2.0:
- unextended OpenGL tests
- OpenGL extensions from 1.2 to 1.4 tests including:
- vertex programs
- fragment programs
- per pixel lighting
- realtime shadows
- a few hardware-specific-extension tests
- OpenGL 2.0 tests are likely to be added soon
- 3D positional audio

and, obviously, lots of eye-candy The release date is planned for Q4 2003.

Crash Override is an unknown quantity at this point

I remember the trouble I used to get into on Rage3D when I had posted that the HPB seemed like a memory error to me.....like the memory pipeline had a hardware issue......man did I ever get my ass chewed over that from so many members......only for them to find out thats exactly what it was and that the driver fix was a workaround for it

As for GLeXcess2 well......I've known Paolo for quite some time and I have to say this is a rather nice piece of news......ive been wondering what hes been up to lately
