Intel's New Chipsets to Improve Core 2 Performance, Bring Hardware Firewall
Source: X-bit labs
_________ Intel Corp., the world’s leading supplier of core-logic sets which controls over the half of the market, plans to release new chipsets that will bring advanced functionality to end-users, but may scrap the support for legacy PS/2 and LPT ports, which will catalyze end-users to acquire new peripherals when migrating to new personal computers (PCs). Intel’s forthcoming chipsets code-named Bearlake X and Bearlake Q chipsets, according to a news-story published by IO Panel web-site citing sources close to Intel’s Israeli center, will boost performance of Intel Core 2 processors by 15% compared to its speed on mainboards using current-generation core-logic sets. This seems to be logical, as the new core-logic sets will support 1066MHz memory and higher-speed processor system bus, which, along with performance of forthcoming Conroe chips, should definitely improve performance of PCs. |

does the rev. 3.3 board also has something like the crazy cool thing on the back of the board where the chipsets are located?
and have you received the rest of the components... processor, RAM, etc yet? |

nah it's dq6 who has the crazy cool, the ds4 though has some heatsink at the back, just not as big as the one on the dq6.
And yep I have recieved it with cpu, ram and cooler, putting it together tomorrow, doing some backups now. |

yea that heatsink thing, those was added to it from PCB rev. 2.x on (rev.1.x does not have it. the BIOS chip, electrical components and the PCB board itself (thicker) was also improved in the rev. 2.0 and newer). anyway, have fun building it.
