Unofficial Statement Regarding Removal Of DirectX 9.0a

Thanks to Rancho at Warp2search for this one

We have learned from a Microsoft representative, who works as a premier support member at Microsoft Germany, that DirectX 9.0a was removed because of an incompatibility with ATI Catalyst 03.1 drivers. Catalyst drivers 03.2 were unaffected, Wenzel said. He pointed out that there were still some minor bugs bud did not want to comment any further.

Microsoft has reenabled the download here

According to Rage3D and ATI

According to them Warp2Search is wrong. Check Rage3d.com for more info.

LIES

The warp2search news article is a lie and is not based on fact. We have contacted Microsoft and they have no knowledge whatsoever of an incompatibility between DX9.0a and CAT 3.1.

Please dont believe the rumors, it it was true I would be the first guy to let our users know of such an incompatibility.

Interesting thing the web, one false news post and people believe such a thing. Considering we posted DX9 certified drivers the day DX9 was launched, wouldnt it be obvious we are working very closely with Microsoft on all aspects of DirectX?

Big Grin I thought as much, as I had no issues with the 3.1s and DX9

Everything ran smoothly for me and I actually got my highest 3DM 2K3 score with the 3.1's. Oh, btw...cya in Louisville this weekend dude. Looking forward to it. I guess its you thats going, cause if not I am about to look pretty stupid...heh.

edit: DOH! Guess I should have read a little closer. I guess that was referring to the new 9.0a and the 3.1's. I just upgraded to that version to try to resolve a Gamevoice/Messenger issue where messenger would log out when Gamevoice was started and is a real pain as GameVoice uses Messenger for connecting to and and hosting chat sessions. So far, that seems to be fixed but I retract my above statement as I have no experience with the 3.1's and this version of DirectX, but I am sure that you of all people would know of any incompatibilities. Thanks for your reply and clarification and sorry for my incoherent babble...heh

So... Is somebody going to edit this news post, seeing as it's been confirmed not to be true at all?
