C-SPAN to make most video of Congress freely available

Source: Ars Technica
_________
C-SPAN, a network dedicated to covering—in all of its mundanity—the workings of Congress, has decided to relax copyright restrictions on its programming and video. In announcing its "liberalized copyright policy," C-SPAN is making available all past, current, and future coverage of "official" Congressional events (e.g., sessions, committee meetings) and other federal events.

"The C-SPAN board sees this as helping us carry out C-SPAN's public service mission," says C-SPAN Executive Committee Chairman William J. Bresnan. "The cable industry created this network to allow citizens greater access to their government and this enhancement appropriately reflects the rapid changes in the online information world."
