Well if it were a 256bit card, it would proberly be to close to 8800gts 320.

to my understanding, it's supposed to be about as good as a 7900gtx/7950gt. But according to the article, it's not. It's going to be about as good as a 7900GS series card.
Well, whatever.....i'm planning on buying one for a machine imna be building for my gf. She's somewhat of a gamer, and i've been thinking this will be a decent card for her. I was just hoping that it was going to be a 256bit card. |

some ones worried?
"NVIDIA prepares its next-generation mid-range and mainstream DirectX 10 GPUs" about time they did. insted of holding DX10 to only thier top end card.

the only thing that matters about that statement, is that they're beating ATI to the mid-range game in dx10 cards like they did w/dx10 when they launched the g80.

Beating ATI in the mid-range game has really never been hard, ATI for some reason fails every mid-range launch and it takes them a year to catch up.

and if i remember ATI launched lower, middle, upper end last round. And NV was setting on the top end cards. Slower to market with the new lower end cards. Mid range to low end is where the money is... where the mass volume is... same with like on board Ati's new lowest end solution is shipping for weeks already the X1250 "on board". (I know I have one building it today.) no cards as of yet but their coming. so the numro uno, on board shipping graphics solution available to OEMS like DELL etc.. would be the X1250. That makes them look very lucrative to use by oems. Cheap, full vista compatible, a real on board solution X700 "based". Means it's a very game-able on board solution. Great bang for the buck... allows users to use 3 monitors too if they upgrade to an ati solution. as for beating anybody, just because info has leaked/ been released. The cards aren't here yet. performance unknown. also not knowing who's going to be top dog when the new ati solution is released. If I'm to believe the hype, nv defiantly has something to be worried about, but I'll wait for the cards. IF ati's cards come out as being better this round. NV's best strategy is to have their cards in peoples hands 1st and stuck with what they have..

the r600 is still some kine of "mythical dominant beast" that nobody has really seen. And there's still no word on what it's kin will be like either. You may be right about NVIDIA getting products out to people first, but sometimes first is the best way to make it happen. |

Actually CD's buddy ATI has mentioned the lower end R610 and the mid R630, these are the models that will feature 64-bit and 128-bit respectively. I just don't get the logic at all as looking around they have both been beaten by older model cards. On top of that pictures which have surfaced yesterday of ATI's latest and greatest have shown they are huuuuge. Not in length but in width, they look like they'd not be far short of the side window in some cases. Let the madness continue. Oh and on a seperate unrelated note I flashed my 8800GTS last night, shameless plug ahead
