Users of Adobe Systems' digital publishing products, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Dreamweaver, will have to shell out for new versions of the software if they want to run them without glitches on Microsoft's new Windows Vista operating system, Adobe says.

According to a statement posted on Adobe's Web site, the company "does not plan to issue updates to current versions of those products for Windows Vista compatibility."

That means users will have to pay hundreds of dollars to upgrade their Adobe software if they want trouble-free performance on Windows Vista, which is now preinstalled in virtually all new PCs shipping in the United States. That's because the current versions of most of Adobe's major products won't work properly on the new operating system.

hmm...

adobe photoshop/imageready/pdf reader all appear to work without any flaws at all from what i've seen thus far....

guess it's all the others?

I guess for many people this will make them stop getting Windows.

I have seen a lot of people having problems installing reader 8.0, but since it's free, I guess it will be fixed

No problems here though.

such a lot of fuss over nothing. they all work, worst ive seen is vista forces the mode to classic.

Im waiting to see if they make a 64bit version of photoshop for vista (although they never did for XP). It would be about the only reason for me to move to 64 bit vista, but certainly not this year with the state its in.

people having problems with reader?

man, i must have installed reader 8.0 on at least 30-40 machines.... 10 of which are vista..... not a single hitch thus far.
