Dell gives the go ahead for Linux

Computer giant Dell will start to sell PCs preinstalled with open source Linux operating systems, the firm has said. The second largest computer maker in the world said it had chosen to offer Linux in response to customer demand.

Earlier this year, 100,000 people took part in a Dell survey. More than 70% of respondents said they would use Linux. Dell has not released details of which versions of Linux it will use or which computers it will run on, but promised an update in the coming weeks.

God... thats just one more friggen thing to have to support. If they can't run windows how the hell do you think they are going to be able to use linux. I think it's going to give bad feedback in the longrun. People are going to drop linux to go to Windows after awhile. Just because people are lazy and retarded. Linux is more of an enthusiast OS, and 90% (at least if not more) of enthusiasts build there own computers. Therefor only a share of dell purchases who get linux would actually really like it imo. For a normal user I would hate linux. Im curious to see where this one goes.
