Hank Horng, general manager of BenQ Taiwan, speaking at a handset launch event on March 29, stated that BenQ will not abandon any of its current product lines, especially that of it notebook products. Horng made the comments in response to speculation in the market that the company would abandon product lines due to poor company performance and allegations of insider trading by executives at the company.
Horng stated that BenQ Taiwan has seen steady growth in its consumer electronics products in the Taiwan market and that the company will continue to produce handsets, digital cameras and LCD TVs and monitors. Horng further stated that though the company has focused on handsets and other consumer electronics and less on IT products like notebook computers, the company will still keep its Joybook notebook line.
Horng said that successfully expanding a product line through marketing and service can help expand other products lines and as such BenQ will not reduce its product offerings.
