Yahoo Could Regret Not Paying Up For Facebook, Needham Says

One of the dark stains on Yahoo’s (YHOO) track record is its decision not to buy Google (GOOG) when it had the chance. Needham’s Mark May today wonders if the company has made a comparable error with its refusal to pay up for Facebook.

As you might recall, there were a flurry of stories late last fall asserting that Yahoo had offered $1 billion for Facebook, but that the deal was turned down. In December, TechCrunch published an internal analysis which showed that Yahoo would have been willing to pay as much as $1.62 billion for the company, but talks broke off after the initial $1 billion offer was rejected, according to various press reports.

Facebook has turned to be freakin awesome and not creepy like myspace. yahoo woulda ruined it anyways
