The 3ds max 5.1 Service Pack 1 with DirectX 9 compatibility update combines DirectX 9 functionality along with fixes to the XRef feature. DirectX 9 opens up a new array of visually exciting interactive lighting and effects in the native 3ds max viewport. With DirectX 9 compatibility, 3ds max 5.1 takes advantage of state of the art shading technologies from graphic card vendors including NVIDIA Corporation and ATI Technologies, Inc. This English-only update is for customers who have 3ds max 5.1, DirectX 9, and a video card and driver which supports DirectX 9. This also addresses issues with XRefs that are detailed in the readme.
